Another Stupid Fan Shithead...
A teenage fan (whose identity has been sealed, pending harassment of him at home) has been banned from the stadium for LIFE.
All events, not just football.
His incident? He not only used one of those laser pointers to point in the face of various Buffalo Bills players during their game with Detroit last week.
He then bragged about it on Twitter.
According to another article, the owner of the team, in confirming the incident and life ban, said he felt more should've been done than a disorderly conduct misdemeanor.
Well, according to a doctor who talked to USA Today, more might well be done...
"We need to be clear about this," Robert Josephberg told USA TODAY Sports in a telephone interview from his office in Yonkers, NY. "These things are weapons; powerful weapons that can cause very severe damage and blindness. They are much more powerful than anyone appreciates."
I do know that, if this moron had done this in California, he could well face life in prison.
You heard me right.
California Penal Code Section 205:
"205. A person is guilty of aggravated mayhem when he or she
unlawfully, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to
the physical or psychological well-being of another person,
intentionally causes permanent disability or disfigurement of another
human being or deprives a human being of a limb, organ, or member of
his or her body. For purposes of this section, it is not necessary
to prove an intent to kill. Aggravated mayhem is a felony punishable
by imprisonment in the state prison for life with the possibility of
parole."
There is a similar law on the books of the state of Michigan, but it may appear to require an actual attempt to remove the eye through violence.
Michigan Penal Code Section 750.397:
Mayhem—Any person who, with malicious intent to maim or disfigure, shall cut out or maim the tongue, put out or destroy an eye, cut or tear off an ear, cut or slit or mutilate the nose or lip, or cut off or disable a limb, organ or member, of any other person, and every person privy to such intent, who shall be present, aiding in the commission of such offense, shall be guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison not more than 10 years, or by fine of not more than 5,000 dollars.
This is your fan of sports these days, Football Nation America...
