June 15, 2023 News and Notes

  • Pretty much a done deal, one day after the Reverse Boycott:  Nevada officials approved the necessary public funding for the A's stadium in Las Vegas -- it appears the move is a go, target date 2025?
    • Late-inning heroics (more on the Rays bullpen) ended the seven-game win streak of the A's.  Tampa won 6-3, 7,055 watched.
  • The ten-game suspension of Drew Smith is official.
  • OK, MSN, come on...  Headline story about who may be in negotiations to do the Super Bowl halftime next year -- story is about Carson Wentz's offseason.  The former would've been far more interesting.
  • A fourth woman has accused Trevor Bauer of sexual assault.
  • Antonio Brown has been thrown out of the Arena Football League.  The Albany Pride have been disbanded by the league, failure to pay league dues.
    • Brown fired multiple coaches and fired both quarterbacks.  The team was 1-6.
  • There may have been a lot of mystery to Los Angeles Country Club, but some insane numbers have been put up:  Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffle have broken the US Open 72-hole record, each shooting 62.
  • It sounds like knocking the Miami Heat mascot into the emergency room wasn't the only crime Conor McGregor committed in Miami last week at the NBA Finals.  Sexual assault and intimidation of a woman during Game 4.  WHAT THE FUCK ELSE WAS HE DOING THAT NIGHT???
  • Speaking of "WHAT THE FUCK ELSE":  Nate Diaz has an arrest warrant in New Orleans for choking out a Logan Paul lookalike.
  • Latest NFL Gambling Bombshell:  A report of a player who lost $8,000,000 gambling in 2022.  They don't say who, where, or on what.  I'm smelling a star player being ousted from the NFL.  Real.  Soon.  Now.
