Two More Sacrifices Tuesday to the Altar of Football

Head injuries claimed a former NFL player and a current high school football player in sacrifices to the bloodsport of this country.

Fred McNeill passed away from dementia and ALS at age 63 today.  McNeill, a linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings for 12 years, was sacrificed to football through a career with the "Purple People Eaters" of the 1970s and 1980s.

Wednesday night, a Kansas high-school player joined him in a playoff game played Tuesday night.  Brain trauma, though no one actually saw it, caused him to collapse on the sideline after scoring a conversion.

You really have to wonder how much more blood is going to "water" the "tree" of football before someone finally takes a violent act against the sport itself.

Two more lives, right where most football fealty-swearers believe they belong -- over!
