Wolfgang Niersbach has resigned as the head of the German football federation over the allegations that Germany bought the hosting rights to World Cup 2006, reported by Deadspin today.
It's the classic "fall on sword" motif, that he'll go down to keep the status quo intact, but the fact is the resignation effectively admits that Germany bribed it's way to hosting the 2006 World Cup. That simple.
