The NFL (and the NFLPA) as The Great and Powerful Oz

Something very important happened yesterday.

Something completely expected happened yesterday.

And because of all the hullaballoo over Deflate-Gate and the Seahawks-Packers Scriptjob, no one probably actually cared to see this.

The NFLPA (whom, by the way, has now also demanded players stop talking about DeflateGate *guffaw*...) has filed a grievance against the league on the personal conduct policy.

And if anyone wants to think the desired result is not both the nullification, in court, of both that policy and the Player Safety policy, then you might be an NFL shill.

I fully envision the day (and it might well be some point later in 2015) that we get the following spiel from Goodell himself:

"These are bad men doing bad things to bad men.  They are not worthy of anything but your worship as long as they serve you and entertain you.  They are not worthy of your sympathy or anything of the sort."

Sports Gone Insane, The Saga Continues: Animals > Women...

Wonderful.

Just great.

The Ravens, today, have cut defensive tackle Terrence Cody for the suspicion of animal cruelty.

That's nice.

So why'd it take you the knockout video to cut Ray Rice??

Super Farce XLIX, The Thugs: Reason #3,690,987 You Should NOT Cheer For the Seahawks: 12th Man Syndrome

Back to Seattle's end of this shit-fest.

It's punishment enough, IMODO, when fans leave the game and are not permitted to return under any circumstance, so they miss the final act in the play, as it were.

However, at about the moment some fans left, there was what police called an "excited" and "extremely intoxicated" member of the 12th Man Cult who came up to a fan who, believing the outcome had been decided, left.

He asked him why, and then held a knife to the guy's stomach and told him that it might be in his best interests to return.

This is all according to KOMO of Seattle.

Look, America...  This is how serious they take this shit up there.  I've seen it with my own two eyes.

This is what Roger Goodell wants for this entire nation.  Think you can handle it?

No???

(The man with the knife is now in jail, awaiting assault charges.)

Super Farce XLIX, The Cheats: Caught With Their Pants Down, the NFL Orders the Backtrack...

Someone please tell me we didn't see THIS ONE COMING...

Now, D'Qwell Jackson, whose interception and proposed returning of the ball to the Indianapolis sideline is believed to have sparked all this, has now backtracked from the claim that he noticed the ball was underinflated, Yahoo! Sports reports tonight.

This, on a night where it is clear that there is increasing belief (and not just in Indiana!) that Rule 17 should be invoked and the Patriots disqualified from the Super Bowl.

So, obviously with Cheats vs. Thugs in mind, the NFL, clearly pants on the floor, now has to try to get the matter backtracked enough, so it is basically telling Jackson to start getting everyone to shut up and not mind that man behind the curtain!

TOO LATE...

Super Farce XLIX, Cheaters vs. Thugs: The Three Most Disgusting Things of All

Are you satisfied yet, America, that, in this league of rapists, child abusers, murderers, dog killers, and thugs, that you have exactly the Super Bowl which you deserve?

Deflate-Gate has basically taken the wind out of the sails of the entire sport heading into the two weeks leading up to Super Farce XLIX.

But this leads me to three very disgusting conclusions about this year, and going forward:

The first is that, regardless of what's about to go down, 100,000,000 and more will still watch it.

The second is that this is going to bring in a new brand of thuggery, cheating, and unprofessional behavior.

The third is that this is exactly what the NFL is trying to contrive...

... by making the SEAHAWKS into the Good Guys.

You see, there is a rule, Rule 17 of the NFL Rule Book, and you can see it here in .PDF form.

If the NFL had one ounce of balls (and not to admit that they would actually be a co-participant to allow the Patriots to play in Super Bowl XLIX), they could, as of right now, invoke Rule 17, Section 2, Article 3 -- Penalties for Unfair Acts:

The Commissioner’s powers under this Section 2 include the imposition of monetary fines and

draft-choice forfeitures, suspension of persons involved in unfair acts, and, if appropriate, the reversal of

a game’s result or the rescheduling of a game, either from the beginning or from the point at which the

extraordinary act occurred. In the event of rescheduling a game, the Commissioner will be guided by the

procedures specified in Rule 17, Section 1, Articles 5 through 11, above. In all cases, the Commissioner

will conduct a full investigation, including the opportunity for hearings, use of game videotape, and any

other procedure he deems appropriate.

He has the power to reverse the result, but won't.

Why???

Because this is the league Roger Goodell WANTS.

He wants it to be literally NASCAR's "Have at it, boys!" crossed with Eddie Guerrero's "If you're not cheating, you're not trying."

He can then enforce the rules, at whim, to keep down certain franchises and ignore them, at whim, to push others.

We don't even have both teams at the site, and this might already be the biggest farce of Super Bowl history -- and there have been some beauties in that regard.

Super Farce XLIX, The Thugs : Let's Mix Metaphors A Bit...

The more I see, the more I want to tell the Packers' TE who everybody thinks screwed up (and Mike McCarthy too) that I'm not buying a word of it...

But I do guess, in the WWNFL, you have to sell being hit like that.

Another piece of evidence came out today on Deadspin -- and thanks to my friend again...

That onside kick the tight-end screwed up on?

Well, for at least an hour, it looked like we had something.

There was a six-man wedge on one of the sides of the situation, and Deadspin picked it up.

But leave it to league shill Dean Blandino (yep, League Command/Control, whatever...) to pick up on that himself and force Deadspin to rewrite the monologue.

By Deadspin's account, within 20 minutes of posting about the six-man wedge, the NFL snaps into action:

But, no, Mr. Blandino, you don't get a pass on this one, for one very simple question I have for you:

Why do you step in on this one, knowing your league, short of altering the AFC result (which, by many accounts, Goodell would have the authority to do!!!), is in a much deeper one to begin with?

And, not only that, but, even WITHOUT this, that still was the most scripted NFL farce since Tebow-Mania...

Please, Dean...  Go back to horses' heads in beds and the like.

Super Fraud XXXVII PROVEN Rigged, Bought Off

The things you learn as things spiral out of control.

Pro Football Talk, through Brian Tuohy:

Brad Johnson straight-up admits that Super Bowl XXXVII between his Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders was rigged in yet another way.

Johnson bought off several people who had custody of 100 game balls for the Super Bowl to tamper them to his specifications.

These purported NFL employees were paid $7,500 to help fix what is, increasingly, becoming just as obviously rigged of a Super Bowl as the one before it.

One has to think, contrary to PFT's opinion, that Johnson had to think he could not let Oakland's offense, the best in the NFL that season, to have the same advantage of an easier-to-grip football.

The dam is breaking, people.
