Day 114

  • EVO is cancelled -- sexual assault allegations against the company CEO, who was fired.
  • The NFL, should there be a Week 1, is going to play "Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing" before each game.  That song is seen as the Black National Anthem.  Ooh, the #NFLBoycott crowd is gonna hate that...     
  • WWE has fully acquired EVOLVE Wrestling, largely seen in the months before the virus shutdown as a second feeder system, below NXT.
  • Governor of South Carolina has threatened to pull the plug on college football in the state if the virus doesn't subside.
  • The Commissioner of the Pac-12 Conference now believes cancellation or a move to Spring for the football season is increasingly likely. 
  • Miami and Dade County have instituted a curfew -- not for protests, but for the coronavirus! 
  • A senior ESPN employee, according to a San Antonio newspaper, believes there is "no fallback plan even worth considering if the NFL cannot play..."  Oof.     
  • There is finally word the Washington NFL team may be corporately-pressured to change the racist nickname. 
  • Indiana's Victor Oladipo is out of the NBA restart.  Injury concerns.
  • The Miami Heat have closed their practice facility after a second positive for coronavirus.
  • Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley says he would prefer a fall football season, but believes a spring one is "very doable". 
  • Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib's father, has succumbed to the coronavirus.  He was 57. 
  • The 2020 All-Star Game for MLB has been formally cancelled.  It was scheduled to be held in LA, and will be rescheduled in that regard for 2022. 
  • 31 Major League Baseball players have tested positive for the coronavirus -- about 1% of the total tests so far are positives.
  • Mexico has closed the border with Arizona.  Coronavirus. 
  • And the first big NASCAR Ka-Boom!!!  Jimmie Johnson is positive for the coronavirus.  Out for at least the next couple weeks.
