"Home runs at Triple-A level surge 58%."
But two facts -- one in their article, the other when my anonymous friend researches the background on the makers of the baseballs (Rawlings) -- provide indisputable proof that the Commissioner of Baseball is LYING TO YOU and that the powers of Major League Baseball are openly manipulating the balls for more home runs and more scoring...
The one from today's ESPN article from the Associated Press is an important change AAA baseball made this year (emphasis mine):
"Home runs surged 58% at Triple-A this season following the switch to major league baseballs. According to the organization that governs the minors, 5,752 homers were hit in the International and Pacific Coast Leagues. That's up from 3,652 in 2018."And then my intrepid friend pulled up Rawlings' Wikipedia page to reveal that MLB itself is one of the principal owners of the company.
So we not only have proof that the balls are juiced, but that ESPN is burying the lead that Rob Manfred is LYING and trying to manipulate the sport to dinger-ville.
And, if anything, it does establish that the players are probably not as drugged up as I might think they would be. Otherwise, someone would've jacked 80 dingers by now!!
And it gets even better: Where balls from a different source were being used in the other minor leagues, home runs went DOWN!!!
"Long balls dropped in nine of 14 leagues from Double-A down, where China-manufactured balls were used."
