At least three former members of the US Snowboarding team have taken the step of suing the US Sexual Assault Olympic and Paralympic Committee, as well as former coaches, the national snowboarding federation, and others for unspecified damages.
The charges include:
- Sexual harassment
- Sexual assault
- Sex TRAFFICKING (emphasis mine, because it all but basically admits the reason these people got chosen to the Olympic team!!!)
- Covering up such when investigations were demanded
- Other misconduct.
Rosey Fletcher, a 2006 bronze-medalist and three-time Olympian, alleges then-US Ski & Snowboarding Federation coach Peter Foley sexually assaulted her at a camp when she was 19, and then again at a post-race event at the Olympics.
Callan Chythlook-Sifsof, a 2010 Olympian, alleges her abuse started in 2005 at 16 at her first world junior championship event in Switzerland.
Erin O'Malley alleges twenty years of abuse and coverup, which started when she was 15.

Is anyone surprised? How many sports in the Olympic movement have been charged with using sex as a function of selection of female (and, in some cases, male) athletes? I have at least six off the top of my head, and there are probably more I've reported on.
The only reason I don't come out and say "How else do you think you were chosen to represent the United States???" is that the blame probably, then, gets put the wrong direction.
Stay tuned. We'll see if this goes anywhere.
