Day 165

  • SGDQ Online raised over $2.3 million for Doctors Without Borders -- an incredible number, given all circumstances.
  • Both the Bears and Browns reported positive tests for the virus on Saturday, but the league is trying to silence the New Jersey lab which apparently produced and processed those positives.
  • Takuma Sato of Japan won today's delayed Indianapolis 500.  11th season in the circuit, 6th series win.  His second Indy 500 win.  First was three years ago.
  • Most of the teams who did not have virus outbreaks or be impacted by other teams' outbreaks have now finished basically half of the 60 game MLB schedule.
  1. Tampa Bay at 19-10 is 1 game ahead and 4 games in hand on the Yankees at 16-9.
  2. Minnesota at 19-10 is 1.5 games ahead and 1 game in hand on Cleveland at 17-11.  2 ahead of Chicago at 17-12.
  3. Oakland has the best AL record at 20-9 and 4.5 up and 1 in hand on Houston at 15-13.
  4. The Yankees would win the fourth home spot for the best of 3's.
  5. Atlanta is 16-12 and 2 up and 6 games in hand on the 11-11 Marlins.  The Mets are next at 12-14.
  6. Chicago is 17-10, 3.5 up (but TEN games in hand) on the 9-8 Cardinals.  Cincinnati and Milwaukee are next at 11-15.
  7. The Dodgers, as many expected, MLB's best record at 22-8, 4 up on the streaking Padres at 18-12.  The AL and NL West have largely been untouched by the schedule problems.
  • Interesting MLB quirk:  SIX games finished on today's schedule by the exact same 5-4 score.
