And a great storyline it was too: Aaron Rodgers leaves with a knee in the second, Packers are basically done for the year within a half.
Comes out of the locker room, Pack goes down 20-0 and eventually 23-3 until they get 21 unanswered in the fourth quarter, three TD passes, the last Rodgers to Cobb for 75 yards with just over two minutes left.
It's this kind of storylining that cements the narrative the media rams down our fucking throats: It's all about the quarterback.
Some other notes:
- The #NFLBoycott will claim a third entire season: Word from the league is that there will be NO National Anthem policy for the 2018 season, announced just before Week 1.
- The 21-21 tie between the Steelers and Browns (!) was the first tie in almost two years, and the first under the new 10-minute overtime.
- Is the league ready to move on from Jameis Winston and give Tampa Bay a push to shove him out the door, Matt Ryan over Michael Vick style? In a game no sane person outside of Tampa shouldn't have gleefully taken the Saints and given the 10, instead you get the highest-scoring NFL game since Week 6 of last year, and a 48-40 Bucs victory.
- Think the LeSean McCoy situation hasn't slaughtered the Bills this season? That 47-3 blowout loss to the Ravens was the biggest blowout in the NFL in almost four years.
- Very un-Goodell-esque Week 1: One Cliffhanger: The tie.
