Another CTE confirmation.
Tyler Sash, formerly of the Giants, dead at 27, Grade 2 CTE -- rare to see it that bad, or so the family was told.
This is getting ridiculous. I'm almost predicting Peyton Manning will be carted off during the Super Bowl...
EDIT TO ADD: Two thoughts from the Deadspin story this came from...
First, looking at the picture of the guy, it was pretty clear the guy was long gone before he got to the NFL. Did two years with the Giants, never adjusted to civilian life. Most of the damage was already before he made the NFL, in fourteen previous years of football.
Second, one of the comments from "FartInTheWind": Told a story of himself in 7th-8th grade Catholic school football. Facemask to the gut by a teammate, walked home, unable to stand after the trainer said simply a bruised stomach.
Turned out it was a lacerated liver (the facemask went all the way and aided in punching two holes in his liver), and it could've been fatal had his mom not rushed him to the ER. He was bleeding out.
