Day 449

  • The illegal homophobic Mexican chants are back.  Several fans ejected in the first half, CONCACAF protocol invoked in stoppage time of a Nations League semifinal with Costa Rica after a fight.  After the three-minute stoppage of play, the match was completed to a 0-0 draw.  Mexico will face the USA in the Nations League final in Denver after winning a six-round penalty-kick shootout 5-4.  Anti-discriminatory ads were all over the stadium during last night's game -- but had little to any perceptible effect.  It's time for CONCACAF and FIFA to throw out Mexico.
The protocol:
  1. PA announcement
  2. Three-minute stoppage of play
  3. Removal of the players from the pitch for up to 10 minutes
  4. Abandonment of the match
  • Another fan incident as the defending champs are ousted in the NBA Playoffs.  Montrezl Harrell of the Lakers was taunted online after the Lakers got eliminated for the death of his grandmother last July.
