The Perils and Travails of Minor-League Baseball

One more before I head to Vegas today, and this can be filed under "I've now seen everything!!"

The Clearwater Threshers and the Tampa Yankees were going to play a Florida League (A-level Advanced) contest tonight, but the game was cancelled.

Why?

The circus is in town, and a gaudy purple and blue tent is right in the middle of the batter's eye, and nobody can get a clear look at the ball!!!  (Doubly bad when the tent has large spotlights on top that make it even worse at night!)

This isn't completely out of whack.  The last guy to get killed on the field by a beanball couldn't see it coming.  This was when spitballs were still legal, so the ball couldn't be picked up in time, and we lost a major-league baseball player for it.
