Every David Needs a Goliath...

Two Rig Jobs of the Day for Week 13...

One of the things my friend and I were watching for was whether they'd put the game between Denver and Minnesota into overtime for the purposes of drama (which see: Denver-San Diego and Denver-Miami!).

We both thought no -- especially with Green Bay-New York Giants for the afternoon cap.

And boy did we get a game straight out of the Green Bay script:
  • 38-35 -- 73 points again. That is the FOURTH Packer game to go over 70 points. (Three of them had Drew Brees, Eli Manning, and Philip Rivers as the opposing QBs.) The rest of the league, without the Packers, has three.
  • And it wasn't without controversy -- and I'm not talking the Donald Driver touchdown, where he had to evade going out-of-bounds not only on the catch, but being shoved by the Giants defender, which would've made him illegal to first-touch.
  • I'm talking about the 3rd quarter touchdown "grab" by Greg Jennings. He clearly has the ball well out within his hands, but appears to grasp the ball as he's running in the end zone. The play was reviewed (all scoring plays are), and the call stood, but that certainly didn't look like a TD.
  • And after the Giants get the TD and the 2 to tie it at 35 with :58 left, BANG -- ZOOM -- POW, three plays to the 12, kick the winner, see ya, and thanks for watching this scripted production of the National Felon League.

But, once again, how many Packer games this year have had questionable TD calls for the Pack, high scoring and down-to-the-wire "excitement"?

Denver vs. Green Bay, February 5?
