- Well, well, well... Ryan Braun, the CURRENT NATIONAL LEAGUE MVP, has failed a performance-enhancer test. Nice job, Ryan -- way to piss on the entire Brewer season there. Enjoy your 50-gamer, and hopefully to be the first player ever to be stripped of an MVP award in baseball.
- James Harrison is in trouble with the league, again! What a shock!! Blatant helmet to the face-mask, well after the quarterback released the ball. Word is that it might not be just a fine -- Harrison might FINALLY be the first player to be suspended under the new player-safety rules. (Previous on-field suspensions in this time frame have been for misconduct like Suh's.)
- And then there's Cincinnati and Xavier. Game halted with 9 seconds as a trash-talk rout win for Xavier turns into a punch-em-up. Cincy's season probably seriously derailed, as four players have been suspended (three for six games!!) by the school. Xavier also suspended four players: Two for four games, one for two, and one for one. Time to forfeit some games, you idiots! Oh, I forgot -- college basketball is MON-EY!!!
- Any further fighting incidents by any of these eight players, and they are gone for the year. After this incident, maybe they should be anyway. One of the Cincinnati players basically went to the Xavier bench after the game was called and posed in a fighter stance.
- MONDAY MORNING EDIT 12/12: Charges are being considered for the fight by Ohio prosecutors. Good. If I go out and punch some idiot who badly deserves it, I'm going to jail (one of the reasons I believe I eventually will -- probably sooner than I want....). Why does being in the middle of a sporting event change that?
The truth is not what actually happened. It's what you can ENFORCE happened. It's ALL enforcement.
