Maximum Security was disqualified and placed third to last (shouldn't even get THAT consideration!) for cutting off the entire pack of horses as the leader with a move straight out of NASCAR.An explanation of Maximum Security's #KyDerby disqualification. pic.twitter.com/vf8AN4qvD2— Kentucky Derby (@KentuckyDerby) May 4, 2019
Maximum Security veered off the rail in the fourth turn to cut off basically the entire field and block them, forcing a number of jockeys into a problematic situation to prevent their horses from getting killed!
Luis Saez should be banned, pending investigation, for a long time after that. He is fortunate he didn't get about ten horses killed (and more than a couple of the jockeys as well!).
But THIS is what we have to resort to, media, as a "controversy"? That's as blatant as it comes and really shouldn't have taken the 22 minutes (probably, more due to that it was the Derby and where do you end up placing him (I'd have just thrown him out of the race entirely...)).
Oh, by the way, Saez was suspended fifteen days for two separate incidents at Gulfstream Park. He was suspended five days for a foul February 1, but allowed to complete the weekend, where he committed a second foul, for which he was suspended from February 3 to February 18th!
