Suspension Blotter: Can't forget to add up all this in the offseason...

• Arizona Cardinals:  Patrick Peterson, six games for PEDs.

First off, that it's a six-game suspension is disturbing.  Under the current PED policy, this means that Peterson was not only dinged for the drug itself, but a masking agent on top of it or other means to subvert the test.

(I wonder how many people actually are going to mention this -- ESPN didn't!)

As such, this season, no matter where he plays, will be the first season of his nine he's not in the Pro Bowl.  Don't know when the rule came into place (and, when it did, long overdue), but he is now disqualified.

Costs Peterson $3,882,352.

This basically means any further Cardinal suspensions are a max check for that level.  Even 15% of that exceeds the $500,000 maximum for the top number of suspensions for the team fine.

The Cowboys already have to cut a check for this season the for the indefinite suspensions of David Irving and Randy Gregory.  (Irving's third suspension, Gregory's fourth)  That is at least the fourth year in a row such a check needs to be cut.

Irving retired two weeks after his suspension because of his inability to play without drugs.

Gregory was actually signed an additional season, and the Cowboys are already out $143,281 under the Club Remittance Policy for the two suspensions.
