Suspension Blotter: And that's another one who should never have been reinstated...

Just days after Martavis Bryant ended his NFL career by violating the terms of his suspension:
  • New England Patriots:  Josh Gordon is finished too by violating his.
This one will cost the Patriots.  It is also the sixth suspension of Gordon's career, five for drugs.

He loses $92,941.

Julian Edelman forfeited $987,744.

So the Patriots, for the two suspensions, are fined the maximum at that level, $150,000.

  1. It's sad that Gordon just threw a potential HOF career away like this. It's not surprising, though. He went to Baylor, where discipline doesn't seem to apply to the athletes or the athletic program (which should be terminated because of how evil it has been the last 18 years or so).

As for the Pats, maybe we will see the end of the Brady era if they lose the next two and somehow miss the playoffs. Also, if/when he retires, I wouldn't be surprised to see Belichick forced out behind the scenes (and it being presented to the public as a retirement). There may be owners that are sick of him going back to Spygate, and they might see this as a time to finally rid the NFL of the Belichick cheating infection.

  2. Someone needs to terminate that entire university, and if that means burning it to the ground...

That said, I think it's clear that the NFL needs to go to the hard life ban for three strikes on the drug policies. I'd really like to know one person who's succeeded in turning things around after getting the year ban.

As for the Pats: I'm getting some impression that there will be no Ring Six unless Brady makes it two more seasons. I think Chargers-Saints with the Chargers winning is this year's SB, and the Rams running roughshod over everyone next year. I also think, with every increasing loss, word that Brady and Gronk have been on the gas (undetectable, through TB12) is an increasing possibility.

Belichick would have to walk away on his own. I think it's clear, right or wrong, that he's the real power on the team, not even the GM or Robert Kraft (witness that I believe he actually threw Super Bowl LII).

  3. Honestly, I kind of hope so. Part of me wants Belichick to have some success (not too much) just to make Brady look bad.

  4. The problem, to me, is that Brady's cheating and Belichick are so married, the league might well have enough of both if they can find out about TB12 -- except for the point that Belichick probably has the same suspicions!
