Well, Donald Sterling finally spoke.
Tony Maglio, in The Wrap, posting on Yahoo!:
"Disgraced Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling broke his silence
to DuJour Magazine, saying of reported girlfriend V. Stiviano: “I wish I
had just paid her off.”"
This is an owner (at least as of now) of a professional sports franchise in the United States of America, ladies and gentlemen.
You know, the more I read about this guy and the more I hear about him, the more I wonder how this guy lasted so long in LA without some mega-mogul minority just offing him or something...
I know that's provocative, but, dear God... How low can you get?
But he's not the only one raising eyebrows.
P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens scored in the second overtime to win Game 1 of a Conference semifinal series in the Stanley Cup over the Boston Bruins last night.
The Bruins' GM is pissed, and for good reason.
P.K. Subban is black, and, after the goal, an estimated 17,000 references on social media to Subban as the N-word racial slur were registered, enough to make local trending.
Now, not all of the usages were negative, but still...
I continue in my contention that the only way we may start holding people accountable for their actions in sports is the win-loss column...
