- Only 41 points a game this week. Only one game beat 60. (Last year: 49 -- a full eight point decrease).
- Season average: 43.27. (Last year: 47.91. Two years ago: 50.78)
- Home teams were 8-6 for the week for 49-42-1 for the year. (Last year: 4-9 for 42-49)
- The Over was only 4-10, 37-56-1 for the year. Meaning that the average NFL week is about 6-10 for the Over. (Last year: 5-8-1 for 42-51-1, the same total as two years ago)
- Favorites were 7-7 against the number and 8-6 straight up. The Chargers, however, were the only favorite to win but not cover -- the other six all lost. (Last year: 8-6 ATS, 9-5 SU)
- Season: 37-52-3 ATS, 54-37-1 SU. (Last year: 43-51 ATS, 58-36 SU)
- Team with more penalties was 6-5 for the week, 36-48-1 for the year. (Last year: 5-8 for 40-43)
- 175 penalties for the week, up a smidge over the 170 from last year. Season total for the 94 games: 1,138 this year, 1,176 last year.
- 3 Cliffhangers this week, including the Game of the Week and the Monday Nighter. 22 for the year. (Last year: 4 for 25)
- 8 of the 14 games finished within 8 points. 57 of the first 94 games this year have finished within one score. (Last year: 6 for only 45 -- meaning we have had 12 more games this year finish within one score. That's almost two weeks' worth of close games, and we're only six weeks into the season, a full two games a week increase.)
- Only 2 non-competitive games this week. Both were upsets (Atlanta and New England). 21 such games this year. (Last year: SEVEN for 33, meaning we have had 12 FEWER non-competitive games this year than last. Two a week, again.)
- And 4 Last Chance Misses this week, for 35 for the year. (Last year: 3 for 24 -- meaning almost the same difference. 11 in this case.)
The truth is not what actually happened. It's what you can ENFORCE happened. It's ALL enforcement.
